Mr. Phong, Removing everything before photos and notes and observations are made by experts, like at a crime scene, reduces the chance of coming to even a good, much less likely conclusion, but a partial list of likely suspects can be revealed by the timing. The report focus of 902, with a comment also about 1605. You add problems on the 14th and 22nd floors not mentioned in the report. What rooms? The report says the woman came BACK to her room to find the sprinkler running and reported it at 9:12 and that "09’14am the fire pump has been active." That seems like a pretty long lag time for start-up from a running sprinkler so I'm wondering if we having the usual problems with English verb conjugations by ESL speakers. Is 9:14 the start time or the time of the report. I think it pretty coincidental that a person entered her room just as the head let go, which is suggested by the timing of the pump start. What caused the ERT to go to 1605 within minutes of a reported discharge on the ninth floor? Waterflow from a flow switch on 16, a guest report or something else? Maybe not pertinent, but maybe it is. And why aren'r floors 14 and 22 mentioned in the report when there is the one mention of 1605 amongst all the information about 902? How often is the pump tested. If on a regular basis and the discharge was initiated by a faulty head opening which caused three more to open when the pump kicked in, more likely than four heads opening at the same time for no obvious reason, why did four fail simultaneously on multiple floors that have had pressure regulating valves at least through fourteen if twenty-two is the highest floor? Too many coincidences, even though, with the limited information, one head opening is the cause for the others to follow. Could just be that all four sustained some sort of damage at one time, either at installation or after, and then the one failed and the pump start stressed the other three to the point of failure. Could be the guest accidentally caused the first event, was afraid of getting in trouble and lied about coming back to the room to find the sprinkler running. Was the guest wet? If no it would suggest she was telling the truth as no one would enter the room far enough to get drenched, but if she was that would mean she was near the head when it discharged. And that type of head could easily be damaged to the point of discharge by a hanger as well as a thrown object. I'm not suggesting she threw a bowling ball at it as in the video but the hardwood floor at the YMCA I go to was ruined by a racquetball ball hitting a fully concealed sprinkler head on the at least 16 foot high ceiling. I personally know of one semi-recessed head similar to the Victaulics you have that was set off in a hotel by a couple of guessing playing catch with a tennis ball, and of course numerous known discharges from people hanging clothes from sprinklers, all installed near the ceiling. The second link is a representative sample of a sign I increasingly see in hotels. This would not be everywhere if the problem were not common.
