It is not required for 3000 sf area calc. See item 4 (d) under 11.2.3.1.4.

Subject: 3,000 sq ft minimum design area rule...

I have sprinklers in combustible concealed spaces as required but NOT in the
combustible concealed spaces per 8.15.1.2.5 (where solid 2x10 wood joist have
fire rated ceilings directly attached). My question is does the 3,000 sqft
minimum design area apply is this scenario? My confusion comes from
11.2.3.1.4 (3) and (4).
