The continuous obstruction requirement to apply the beam rule kicks in only 
when the top of the obstructions is level with or above the plane of the 
sprinkler deflector (section 8.6.5.2.1.2).  If extended coverage then even if 
the top of the obstruction is below the plane of the deflector, the beam rule 
applies.
