It depends,  If it is a multi-story builing you need one at every alternate
level, offset, bottom, top and no more than 25'-0" apart.   If it's not a
multistory, just 1 hanger ring at the top of the riser within 24"

Where "seismic" is not required, and the riser is, say, 6" by 35 feet tall,
is there a requirement or rule of thumb for the vertical spacing for the
