This has been theorized since I got in the fire business in the '70's.

Will this have a step-wise benefit to better understanding combustion?
Combustion reaserch and engineering make tool possible. Use of calibrated,
variable tool improves combustion knowledge?

From another forum.

All: According to our friends at NIST – this type of technology works on a
small non-energized fire. The military has done extensive testing, and it won’t
work on an energized kitchen fire, nor anything larger than a small pan fire
with flammable liquid. At this point I would chalk it up to interesting – but
needing much more work and validation – before I get excited about it. Again.
Like when I saw it. And thought this is FANTASTIC. Then scientists started
shooting me down.

This has been making the rounds in the news [Foxnews, Facebook, etc.] and
appears legitimate, but being so close to April 1st...

Is anyone on the forum familiar with this new fire extinguishment research
regarding sound waves?
