Nothing that I am aware of mandates it. I have seen AHJs wrongly interpret 8.4.7.2 that you reference and apply it to standard spray sprinklers and dry systems. But, NFPA 13 does not mandate galvanized on dry systems supplying sprinklers other than large drop (CMSA).

Obviously if you are in an environment that warrants galvanized, you may have to use it. Also note, in the 2013 edition, I don't believe you can use C120 any longer for dry systems with galvanized.

Ladies and Gents,

Is there a clause within NFPA that requires the use of galv pipe on dry
systems? The only clause I can find is 8.4.7.2 and this is in reference to
CMSA sprinklers.

Thanks in advance,

Spencer Allen
