So let's play Brad a bit. Steam is 212F and a gas so invisible. Steam vapor
is visible and somewhat below that. It would cool rapidly in contact with
air that is within a human tolerance range. It should be well below 200
before it reaches the ceiling where it will continue to cool as it contacts
the sprinkler head and its associated mass. No test but I know enough about
steam that if you can see it it's not steam. And released into the
atmosphere it does not get hotter, but rather cools.
