Sprinkler connections are permitted to standpipes however, any such connection must be furnished with both a check and control valve (6.3.5.1). There is not a hazard group restriction or a wet/dry restriction on the type(s) of systems that can be connected if I recall correctly.
The foregoing is my opinion only and is not intended to represent the NFPA 14 Technical Committee, nor serve as an interpretation of the standard. The room would include three wet pipe sprinkler systems with alarm check valves and individual control valves. 2- Is it acceptable to have an auxiliary dry pipe sprinkler valve fed by a combination standpipe/sprinkler riser? 3- Is it acceptable to have a storage occupancy protected by sprinklers from a combination standpipe/sprinkler riser?
