No, not codified in any way. Although combined sprinkler and standpipe risers 
are by far the most common arrangement in high-rise buildings, you can have a 
dedicated sprinkler riser that separate from the standpipe system at the 
designer's option.

Is there a limit to the height or number of stories a  “zone” for a high rise 
building can supply?  I have a spec written to say each zone can either be a 
maxim height of 275ft  or 20 stories.
