Ya sorry Travis i drifted a little from the pith of the thread. I'm just wondering how to estimate $$/sf that would be in the ball park no matter where in the country it was, and since water supply varies from poor to good even across the same jurisdiction, and affects $$/sf I thought some kind of 'self-contained' totality might help it settle down and act right -- no city, no matter where, no matter when.

Home fire sprinklers are simply about how can we do it at low cost and still be effective. In areas with high meter fees, the Talco Home Hydrant is great to offset cost. Where the meter cost is not a factor, basic riser is best option. It’s all about cost effective for this game.

Pressure Tanks are an approved water supply. No city connection. No
BFP. No fire pump. I can see "13D Pressure Tank" brochures and the
$$/sf stabilizing and, over time, coming down.

NFPARF published an estimate of average cost for a residential
(one/two family) sprinkler system in 2009 in the run-up to the IRC
vote that year.  I think the number was $1.61; does anyone know if
they or HFSC have published an updated cost estimate recently?
