I've got a structural guy wanting to substitute bar joist for wide flange steel. The issue is clearance. They just assumed if they provided bar joist we could run our piping in the webs of the joist which would put us 1 - 5 ft above the ceiling.
The spacing between joists is unknown but could be "close". So the question, does anyone have any cheat sheets or spreadsheets showing the maximum diameter of pipe based on a full length stick that can be routed up within bar joist based on the bar joist spacing and depth?
