Just a small thought, following the long discussion of js, which seems partly to be prompted by some people's desire for the expansion of the menus to be neater. The present arrangement means that when you expand a menu, the screen refreshes and the part of the menu yo were looking at may even scroll out of sight. This is ungainly if not disasterous.
One alternative approach might be to use two frames in the sidebar, the upper one to select a submenu, the lower to display the submenu in its entirety (with no ad-hoc additional expansions). At a guess, this would fit most displays reasonably well if the upper frame showed only AR, AP, Order Entry, General Ledger,... The top frame would be small, and the lower frame could have the menu fully expanded. At worst, if you had a lot of extra reports in your menu, you might have to scroll them. Perhaps the reports should be at the end of each menu for this reason. I find the UI very convenient except for the "jumping" of menus when expanded. I particularly like the convenience of being able to skip back and forth between, say, AP add trans and GL add trans. What I've suggested above would in fact cost me an extra click for each such skip. Unless a third frame showed shortcuts to, say, the last four functions used... -- richard ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf ------------------------------------------------------- (un)subscribe: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/sql-ledger-users Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
