Except there are a lot of areas where C advanced in C99 that C++ can't
deal with in current versions:

struct {
char blah[];
}
char blah[somevariable];
The ability to sprintf a size_t or any general 64-bit number.
(and a few other things that are really convenient, but have got in my
way in attempts to port c code to c++).
