I concur: One of our customers has a large installation running on Linux (Centos; ext4) on VMWare without any problems. I'm not sure which version but the startup messages include this: DMI: VMware, Inc. VMware Virtual Platform/440BX Desktop Reference Platform, BIOS 6.00 10/13/2009 We have also run test installs under Virtualbox with no known issues.
