What is wrong with the asyncvfs? It only needs one thread to do the I/O. Using aio means that some combination of C library and kernel threads will be used depending on the platform anyway. In any event lets say you do implement aio, have you put any thought into how you would test it? If you do not thoroughly test it then there will be potential for data loss or corruption. Async code is a lot harder to test and cause all the various combinations of race and error conditions. Using pre-existing code from the SQLite team means it gets tested like this: http://www.sqlite.org/testing.html How much test code would you need to write to be at the same level?
