As for the pi solution, maybe it's something worth considering, too, since I can't even remember how I managed to squeeze that LMS 7.9 into my qnap already. Interestingly, my SOTM SMS-100 can run LMS, too, though I can't remember exactly which version. Maybe that can be a solution, too.
