Yeah as I said, not holding my breath, but I will report it. I'll post the link here so anyone who happens to stumble across this thread can follow its progress.
As I'm using ffmpeg because I'm doing the conversion in a script, I think the second option might be useful to me. Any ideas if it would be possible to make the edit as a find and replace or something similar in my script? I've never done hex editing.
