I ran LMS on QNAP for quite a few years. Initially on a TS-109P and then
on a 4 bay TS-419. Both are ARM.
The 419 still hosts my media files but I now also have a TS-251 at a
remote location and use the built in Remote Replication to keep them in
sync.
I run an old HP Microserver here with a single SSD which runs a hacked
Vortexbox 2.4. The 419 is mounted via NFS and CDs rip straight to the
QNAP - yes I know the host OS of VB is out of date but it does exactly
what I want it to. The SSD holds only the VB install and LMS so the dB
is very fast.
At the remote location I have a Pi3 running piCorePlayer as LMS and
player connecting to the 251 by NFS.

Would I run LMS directly on the 251? I suppose I could but I need the Pi
as a player there so I don’t think I’d gain much as at the Pi is more
than capable as I only need a single player at that location.

The remote replication afforded by the 2 x QNAP means I have a full
remote backup and it works a treat. Anything I add to my main library is
available the following morning at the remote site. Media is not the
only data that is backed up this way.
I also use the old TS-109 for a local weekly backup.
