Hi Michael

Well, I uninstalled all third party plugins and installed them one by
one, leaving the MAI plugin until last. I created a local folder and
also restricted the number of pictures looked up. The stopping and
starting server times vastly improved but following the installation of
MAI and running a rescan I am some 2 1/4 hours in and the scan is at the
Database Optimize (1/2) stage and shows now signs yet of moving on. I
propose to leave this running overnight and review in the morning. The
positive is that so far I have not experienced a loss of connection to
the server as I did earlier.

One thing that I did find earlier was that the Logitech Media Server
Scanner (32 bit) process is very persistent! It seemed impossible to
kill this process and if the PC were restarted it was unable to close
down unless I carried out a hard close.
