This may not help, so I'm sorry if it's a distraction. Ages ago I had a similar problem and no amount of altering the tags got rid of the problem. The root cause turned out to be my including in 'Comments" reviews of albums which exceeded the character limit for the field, causing corruption elsewhere in the tagging. At that time, MP3tag didn't have error checking to constrain tags to valid sizes. I no longer copy and paste comments, so have not investigated further in MP3tag.
