Yes upgrading to the installation, will always preserve the settings.
If you want to be sure, do ./QLogitechMediaServer.sh backup.
And then after upgrading, and you are missing settings do
./QLogitechMediaServer.sh restore.
That will restore the setting, from when you have run
./QLogitechMediaServer.sh backup

In the latest release, a backup settings will be done, after LMS goes to
a newer release.
For example from 7.9 to 8.0, will make a backup of the settings before
upgrading to 8.0

Tried to make QLogitechMediaServer as flexible, as what i could think
off.
