Yes.

Yes, I think so. I do not have to enter a special mode for the update, just
playing the firmware file is starting the update process. After the update the
DAC is rebooting automaticaly and the new firmware is running.

Yes.

* With my old 1.8 squeezelite version I can play all files (16 and 24 bit) bit
files, but the DAC does not show the bitrate. So I think the DAC does not
recognize them as bit perfect.

* With the renderer in the DAC, which is connected via the upnp bridge, I can
only play the 16 bit files but AFAIR also the DAC does not recognize them as
bit perfect.

* With my Lumin player and the regarding Lumin app every thing is fine. The DAC
recognizes the testfiles and also the firmware update is working.

So without LMS and with the Lumin player connected via usb to the DAC every
thing is fine for the MSB, but when playing files via LMS, either with the PI
connected via usb or via the renderer connected via the UPNP bridge, the DAC
does not get enough information to ahndle the played files as bit perfect. The
systems do behave differnt and the question is why.
