Mike, thanks for the advice, which seems to have worked. All's well now. And in the process of reconfiguring all my players, LMS add-ons, etc, I suddenly remembered something I did not long before all hell broke loose... I don't store my music by album, but by artist. So one directory can hold several albums, and thus several cover images. With default settings, LMS simply displays the alphanumeric-first image file it finds in a directory whose track it is playing. I wanted it to display the cover (if available) of the *actual album* that track is from (and most of my tracks are tagged with Album, as well as Artist, Title, Genre and ReplayGains. I found this page on the subject, and despite being based on an obsolete version of LMS, decided to give it a go. https://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Album_Artwork.html So I added %ALBUM*.jpg in Settings/Advanced/Formatting/Artwork I think the chaos might have started shortly after making that change (and I failed to make the connection :-( I wonder whether it might have been an array overflow issue, because some of my album names are long and I store the artwork files with no spaces or underscores between words, just capitalised words followed by _cover or _front, etc. Maybe the software didn't handle long strings well when doing the album title vs artwork filename comparison? Anyway, I'll wait a few more days to ensure all the weird sporadic problems are truly gone, and then maybe try this artwork specification again to see what happens.
