It's just looking for something at 0.0.0.0, which it will never find.

Actually it uses your router's Internet connection.  SlimServer doesn't
even have to be installed to access SqueezeNetwork.

Think of a gateway as just that - a machine number on your network that
has your LAN on one side and the Internet on the other.  It's the
"gateway to the Internet".  For most people, that's your router.

You're telling the Squeezebox to find the router in order to find the
Internet.

The SB doesn't need to see SS in order to get on to SN.  It does need
to find out how to get out to the Internet though, which is why you
need to enter the gateway address.
