Wow am I glad to see this thread! I'm having what seems to be the same trouble with SN. It shows up exactly the same: 'connecting to SN...' then goes black and never gets there. It's also crashing the internet connection for the two other machines in the house, though, when it tries and fails.
It will run for hours once it's going, generally. But once it crashes we're in for it. Resetting and restarting the server and rebooting the other machine and around and around. In the end it feels like it's come back almost randomly. There's no obvious difference between when it works and when it doesn't. (As this has been going on for MONTHS, I've tried pretty much every configuration of procedure for getting it to work.) Weird about the timing: you say midnight was the trigger. Ours will almost always go out between 6:50 and 7:15am. I was wondering if there was some sort of ISP reset happening as well, but the stability has so degraded now that the morning issue is just one of many. Sadly, I'm now leaving the box disconnected unless I feel up for the challenge and am not planning on doing anything productive from the other machines while pfutzing with the thing. Love the sound. Love the services.
