Pandora at 128kb/s sounds very good on my system. Well balanced, full bodied, 3-dimensional, 'analog' sounding, if you will. I can 'seriously' listen to it with no problem at all. I've just created a new station this morning based on Ana Caram and the sound of her voice is really good. Of course this is dependent on the recording being well made in the first place and a higher bitrate should be even better but I'm more than satisfied with the 128k and I thought I wouldn't be. I was listening to a track on Pandora from Neil Young's Live at Massey Hall, which comes with the 24/96 high res version on the DVD (this is the best sounding disc I own), and the 128kb version on Pandora seemed to have most of the important qualities intact that I hear on the 24/96.
I'm using the coaxial digital output from the Squeezebox going to an outboard DAC (in a Behringer DEQ2496). I've tried the optical output and it sounds the same to me. Haven't tried the analog outputs yet. -- kh6idf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kh6idf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16848 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28824 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
