A couple of weeks ago I finally updated to 7.0 of SC (from 6.4 or 6.2 or
something like that). My box is running Linux and I have the latest and
greatest version of SC installed.

Ever since I updated to SC7 I've been unable to stream Live365. The
summary of my problem...

I stream my music from my SqueezeCenter on my home server to my desktop
(also Linux) at work. I do this using the http://...:9000/stream.mp3
URL. I need to listen to Live365 via this stream but in order to do so
I need to register the "player" with SqueezeNetwork. Because the
"player" is software (Beep Media Player) playing a stream rather than a
physical box (Squeezebox) I cannot get a PIN for it, cannot register it
with SqueezeNetwork and cannot listen to Live365 at work anymore
thereby apparently wasting my yearly subscription fee to Live365 since
I rarely listen to it on the two SB3s that I have at home.

I contacted support and just completed a very frustrating experience.
It took the CS rep a number of exchanged emails before he stopped
sending me scripted responses and actually READ my problem. At that
point he told me that, no, there is no way for me to get a PIN for my
streaming player and so I'm SOL and, gee, what's the big deal why don't
I just go over and stream from the actual Live365 site anyway?

Ahem...

My question to the forum is: WTH? Why was the decision made to change
the software so that it REMOVES a piece of functionality like this? Are
there plans to put it BACK? Is there any hack that I can use to mock up
a PIN for my streaming player and get it registered on SN?
