The way I see it, from practical point of view, both the SC and SN are
services and content aggregators. A single point of connection for your
subscription services and for content streamed from different sources
and formats. (Local Library, Remote Library, Internet Radio Stations,
RSS Feeds, Podcast... etc) The content source can be local, remote or
combination of both. Using a single client and needing only a single
point of connection is convenient as it saves you the time and afford
needed to authenticate to each different subscription service and to
maintain connections from different sources using different stream
formats. All you do is navigate the menu from the client and select the
source you want to hear. Having a CD quality (SB/Duet) and Audiophile
quality (Transporter) intelligent hardware network players that are
fully supported via the SC and SN allow you to enjoy your music (the
way is supposed to be) using your home stereo system. You also have the
flexibility of using software client(s) on a computer (which lack
adequate digital audio processor) like SoftSqueeze and Moose to give
you further flexibility to listen to your music anytime anyplace. (No
need to haul the hardware client) Well...at least that's why I think I
use all this stuff.
