Sort of, but the source must also be streaming, and it's probably not
actively streaming.  Also an SB can't access files via FTP.

Yes but it has to be streaming, and it has to be available over the
Internet.

I suppose you could:

1.  Set up an Icecast/Shoutcast station.  Your network hard drive may
not be able to do this.

2.  Port-forward the drive on your router - this is a different port
and service than FTP.  You would also have to secure access, limiting
access to your own IP address.  Otherwise the entire Internet will be
able to snoop in on the stream and may be able to do other, more
interesting things...

3.  Tune into that stream.  But you'd have to use the streaming
software interface to change songs.

I've never heard of this done before.

Check in the third party hardware forum, you may be able to install
SqueezeCenter on your network drive which will do exactly what you
want.
