Streaming music around the house, especially lossless codecs, moves more data than most home routers are used to seeing. I had a Netgear wireless router that worked fine for most tasks, but would get jammed up periodically streaming FLAC files. As snarlydwarf says, see if there is a firmware update available for your router, and if that doesn't fix it (or there isn't any available update), you should look into getting a new router.
