Well in this case, others had reported that the service had returned. 
"No action" did not return my service, so I acted.  I suppose I could
have kept on waiting.  When I did a full reset, I found that the SN
servers were functioning properly.  I posted my message in case there
will still others who were waiting for no good reason.
