not a great deal of support for this one on here so last week I emailed
logitech support.

Has anyone dealt with them at all as I'm not convinced that the guy I'm
talking too knows what he's on about.

This is what I've raised:

For a few weeks now my squeezebox has been crashing when using the
squeezenetwork. It becomes very slow and unresponsive and I finally
have to
pull the power lead out and reboot. On reboot it just displays an empty
box
and again crashes but if I leave it 10 seconds or so before plugging
the
power back in it boots ok and again the symptoms start.

This does not happen at all when I connect to the squeezenetwork via
the PC
and squeezecenter (also using wireless).

The first response seems to have ignored the model, the fact I'm using
wireless and why oh why has he asked for the MAC address? He's also said
to do a Xilinx Reset which is supposed to be a fix for sound issues, not
network.

First response:

If I understand correctly you are having an issue where your
Squeezebox
crashes (it becomes slow and unresponsive) when it is connected to
SqueezeNetwork.

Does it become slow and responsive when playing Internet radio via
SqueezeNetwork, or is just being connected to SqueezeNetwork enough?

Could you indicate which type of Squeezebox you have (Classic, Boom,
Duet,
Transporter)? And what the MAC Address of the unit is? If you have a
Duet,
please provide the MAC Address of both the Receiver and the
Controller.

Also, which firmware version is installed on the Squeezebox (and the
Controller)?

When you open the SqueezeNetwork website, on the bottom righthand side
it
tells you which server you are connected to: DE, DC, or SV.

If you connect your Squeezebox to SqueezeNetwork, and then check in
your
Squeezebox' settings: which server has it connected to? Does it show
the IP
Address of the SqueezeNetwork server?

What does your home network look like? Do you have a modem and a
router, or
a modem/router combination? What model router do you have? Is the
Squeezebox
wired or wireless?

If you do a Factory Reset and a Xilinx Reset, does this change the
situation?:

My reply:

Hi

This is a Squeezebox 3 (classic) (as stated in the fault)

Its slows and unresponsive when doing anything connected to the
Squeezebox,
even moving my way around the menu's with no music playing.

Its using wireless and the network is simply a wireless Belkin router.
All
other PC's on the network are suffering no problems at all and as I
say,
when I connect the SB3 to squeezecenter on my PC there are no problems
at
all.

I'm not sure what the MAC address will prove, however it is
**:**:2*:1*:0*:0*
The firmware version is 127
SqueezeNetwork info version is SS:R2*86*, SN R7077
Datacenter, Frankfurt

I have completed a factory reset.

Thanks

Thank you for contacting Logitech Technical Support.

I had a look at your SqueezeNetwork account. This had been created, but
not yet Activated. I have now activated the account for you.

The firmware of your Squeezebox Classic seems to be up to date.

You mentioned having done the Factory Reset. Have you also done a
Xilinx Reset? The Xilinx Reset reprograms a chip inside the Squeezebox,
which is usefull in case of playback and network issues.

Could you also try the following, and let me know what the results
are:
- click Start
- click Run
- type: PING www.squeezenetwork.com -t
- press Enter
- after about a minute, press CTRL+C
- what is the average time? And did you get any time-outs?

Do you experience the same issue when your Classic is wired to your
Belkin router and configured to use the Ethernet connection?

============================================================================

How was my squeezenetwork account not activated? I've been using it
since last xmas and its linked into Napster? Also, there have been no
problems until about a month ago. What username do you have for the
account that you activated?

The Xilinx Reset is reported to only resolve sound issues, not network
issues so are you sure this is needed?

============================================================================

I know its a long read and a bit of moaning, but is this guy fobbing me
off with random and pointless requests? What relevence was the MAC
address, is the Xilinx reset going to resolve a network issue....but
then it all works when going wirelessley through the squeezecentre app
on my pc.
