I've been an SB user for a while now. I have an aging SB3 so hopefully
that shows I'm not a total noob.

Anyway when I installed a new server 7.4.x I was forced to create an
account on 'mysqueezebox' before I could do anything. My first question
there is why? I've been using the server since (I think) 6.x so what has
changed?

More importantly tonight I thought for a laugh I'd see what was under
that menu option on the SB3. It asked me for my user name and frankly I
wasn't going to type that in using the remote so I thought I'd cancel.

Big mistake.

For the next fifteen minutes all I could get out of the SB3 was either
'enter your user name' or else 'Your player needs its MAC address
resetting contact support'. I couldn't clear this by power cycling. I
did eventually discover that if I was quick off the mark after applying
power I could get into the normal setup menu and I've managed to recover
my player.

So:What the *censored* is the point of mysqueezebox and why should I
risk my player and my sanity with it? My natural inclination is to
delete it from the menu and forget it but I /assume/ there's supposed to
be some value to it.
