Correct, SBS uses MySB in the background.  Using SBS you can do
everything that you can do connected directly to MySB and a lot more.
So when you added an App on MySB it correctly updated your SBS, which
subsequently updated your player (which was connected to SBS).

SBS can sometimes connect to the MySB server when the players
themselves cannot.
They are likely having continuing issues with the MySB server.
