It's actually pretty simple. All SBs need to be connected to one server,
and only one server. That could be a local computer or NAS running SBS,
or it could be mysqueezebox.com (the SB server in the 'cloud'). If you
are running a local SBS then you have absolutely no need for mysb.com,
because with local SBS you get everything that is available on mysb.com
_plus_ playback of your local library. Moreover, in most cases your
local SBS is more reliable than mysb.com.

However, some users use their SBs without a local SBS -- in that case
they need mysb.com to connect them to internet radio or online services
such as Rhapsody, Napster, Pandora, etc. A lot of these users don't
think it's worth turning on a computer to access these services. Or
some users have a local SBS that they only fire up when they want to
listen to their local library, and other times use mysb.com when they
just want online content.

The reason your SB shows up as "Not Connected" on mysb.com is because
it is not connected from mysb.com whenever it is connected to your
local SBS. For your friend to control your SB via mysb.com, you would
have to (a) switch the SB's music source from local SBS to mysb.com,
and (b) give the friend your mysb.com login credentials.
