can't write or open files when starting

Current situation   squidGuard –d  =  SquidGuard: 1.2.0 Sleepycat Software: Berkeley DB 2.7.7: (08/20/99) squid –v  =  Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE1-20021117 OS = RedHat 7.3   Directory listing of squidGuard files.  All permission and ownership are recursive   ls -al total 24 drw-r-----    5 squid    squid        4096 Mar 25 11:39 . drwxr-xr-x   16 root     root         4096 Mar 25 10:44 .. drwxr-xr-x   13 squid    squid        4096 Mar 25 10:54 blacklists drwxr-xr-x    2 squid    squid        4096 Mar 25 11:03 log -rw-r--r--    1 squid    squid         415 Mar 25 11:13 squidGuard.conf   My question is when I start squid with helper program (usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard -c /usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf) I continual get the following error:   2003-03-25 11:56:33 [21599] (squidGuard): can't write to logfile /usr/local/squidGuard/log/squidGuard.log 2003-03-25 11:56:33 [21599] (squidGuard): can't open configfile  /usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf   I have read the FAQ #3 and it looks like my permission and ownership are correct, but I can not get this thing to run.  Squid runs as the user squid and the group squid.  Here is the out put of ps –ef:   root     21591     1  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 squid -D squid    21594 21591  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 [squid] squid    21595 21594  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 (squidGuard) -c /usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf squid    21596 21594  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 (squidGuard) -c /usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf squid    21597 21594  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 (squidGuard) -c /usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf squid    21598 21594  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 (squidGuard) -c /usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf squid    21599 21594  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 (squidGuard) -c /usr/local/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf squid    21600 21594  0 11:56 ?        00:00:00 (unlinkd)   Thank you Stephen
