Patrick,

I take it that my previous suggestions were unacceptable to you? That's
fine, I'm sure someone else will provide a more acceptable solution.

For what it's worth:

- When I load www.news.com, my browser says that I'm at
http://www.news.com.

- I clicked the cnet.com/news link that you provided below and it opened
fine for me.

- I'm using the same blacklists that you say you are using.

- I checked and "cnet.com" does not appear in ANY of the domains/urls
files in that blacklist.

In my opinion, it comes down to 2 questions:

- Why is your browser taking you to a different place when you load
www.news.com?

- What dest group in your squidGuard is blocking you? (#2 in my previous
suggestions)

Good luck! I hope you get the answers that you are looking for.

Rick

Subject: news.com urls blocked

I posted over the weekend with news about news.com URLs being blocked.

www.news.com , when loaded, takes you to news.cnet.com.

An example of a blocked URL is

http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1003-200-7849355.html?tag=mn_hd

It seems that most of the URLs are blocked.

Ideas? I am using the blacklists published at
www.squidguard.org/download/

Cordially
