It's easier than you think it is, and it makes a big difference in 
browsing speed!  

Ads are blocked with a destination group, just like porn. You then
replace the ad graphic with a small (1x1) transparent gif. The 
web page will resize the blank gif as required. One secret to 
successful ad blocking is using an expressionlist. I also merge an
independent list of ad servers into my ads/domains file (it is 
available in rm-blacklists.tar.gz below).

Here's an example of the changes to your config file:

        expressionlist  blacklists/ads/expressions
