So you took the files that were renamed to .ri, and copied them over the top of the original ones? The .ri files are the original files... they're just backups... You've just copied the backups over the top of the "patched" version by the conf.pl script. For some reason, your conf.pl is modifying a file that shouldn't need touching... and I think because of that it's messing it up. Continue using the .ri files, as they were the intended ones.
