Yes, I did setup the dsns, and I did verify the databases fields, connectivity, and authentication.

The strange thing is, squirrelmail doesn't puke on the addressbook db, only on the preferences db.

Is there anyway to turn on debugging, to get a more detailed error, rather than "database error" ?

Is mysql running?  Did you setup the dsn settings in the configuration?
Have you checked your database?
