Hello,

I have set up Squirrelmail on a server for 2500 users. Everything is working just fine except for one minor cosmetic issue. The users are French, so I have enabled the French language skin, so to speak.

The issue is that accented characters are not systematically displayed correctly.

For instance, in the blue left-hand navigation bar, "last update" is translated as "Dernire mise jour", however, it is displayed as "Derni`ere mise `a jour" which is quite ugly.

What is curious, though, is that just below, "Inbox" is correctly rendered as "Bote de rception" without the accent munging. As far as I can tell, the source files contain the correct accented characters. I assume the munging is going in in PHP (version 4.3.2), about which I know next to nothing, being more of a Perl hacker myself.

I've looked through the Wiki and searched the archives but I see no prior references to this problem.

Thanks for any clues I can use,
David
