The data files are stored in whatever you configured to be your data
directory. By default that is squirrelmail/data, if you go in there,
you should see a .pref and .abook file for each user that has created.
The mail folders however will be wherever your IMAP server keeps them.

Most firewalls, when configured still allow localhost -> localhost
connections.... That could be how.
