I'll wager that if you look at the headers of these message, you'll find
that the Date: header is missing or malformed, which ends up getting
interpreted as 0, or 1/1/1970 00:00:00 GMT.  Adjust for timezones in the
western hemisphere, and you get times that are for 12/31/1969 (7 or 8PM for
EST, 4 or 5PM for PST).
