It's not getting an smtp connection between qmail [sending] and exim
[recv'ing]. I have really checked all the logs, i'm surprised I don't get
more than an "couldn't make an smtp connection" in my qmail logs.

I removed spam filtering to test, still no dice. Where are the
courier-imap logs in the squirrelmail build, i'll check those too...

Hey Tomas, is there a qmail [or courier-imap] command I can run in debug
mode to catch the error in more detail? I'll check my qmail book. I
heard about the headers issue from a few different sources, it's hard to
integrate open-source apps, but i'm bent on refining it so squirrelmail
users can post to my mailman list.
