Actually, it complained about the first 467 messages, then showed the
rest normally. Turned out it was a permission problem: those 467
messages were owned by root rather than the user which ran the imap
daemon, so the daemon couldn't read them and told Squirrel about it,
but squirrel didn't recognize the IMAP error message ("Unknown response").
Changing the ownership of the Maildir message fiels so courier-imap
could read them made everything work fine. Doh! [bangs head on CRT]
Sorry for the noise; perhaps this will help some other
under-caffeinated sysadm some day.
