I'm still not sure WHY they will see problems. What is the difference
of 2 servers using a common store compared to 1 server with multiple accesses
to a single store?

I wish you had found out what caused it. I know I had alot of problems
when I mistakenly forgot to turn on statd/lockd at first. Once I did that,
things seemed to have calmed down immensely. The only issue I can see causing
this problem is locking issues.
I could go to SQL prefs, we do have a DB running... Sorta just
defeats why NFS is in use in the first place. :)
Thanks, Tuc
