Hi all,
  I am using squirrelmail-1.4.4 along with courier-imap.
I have used retrieveuserdata-0.9 plugin to retrieve user information from
the /etc/passwd file. The problem is that this file is in my imap server, rather
than on the server on which squirrelmail runs. So, is there any way to
access these
information from the imap server, instead of using the local machine?

OS: Debian Sarge 3.1

Sounds like you need a network file system solution (plenty of options out there, but beyond the scope of this mailing list) through which you can access the file. If you have a multiple server system, I'm surprised that you don't also have a more sophisticated way of storing user data (which might be easier to configure with this plugin), especially give that giving PHP *any* kind of access to /etc/passwd isn't that good of an idea.
