ssh

Hi,
I installed ssh 1.2.27 however when did a ll in my
usr/local/bin all my ssh files are linked to ssh2 files.
and i cant get ssh to run but I can start the ssh1 deamon.
what is the difference and how do i get ssh to run. I also have F-secure and
putty on an nt box and they are not connecting. HELP
