Compile of SSH 1.2.30 on SGI Indigo 2 fails

We are having trouble with the compile of SSH 1.2.30 on SGI Indigo 2 running

IRIX 6.5.7.  Everything compiles but when we run the ssh keygen it goes into
a loop 
when generating p and q .  Says the two do not match and then starts over
again.

Have tried a "configure --disable-asm " but that didn't work either. It was
suggested 
by somebody compiling on IRIX 6.4.
