I have a vague memory that I got this if I tried to optimise too heavily.
On IRIX 6.2 and 6.5 (up to .6 in my case), -O3 breaks ssh-keygen, and
more importantly, the same functions in sshd so you can't even start
the daemon. (Well, it starts, but you never get to know why it doesn't
allow logins because it even starts the listener before it has managed
to compute p and q and connections just hang!)
Use CFLAGS="-OPT:Olimit=0 -O2 -INLINE:all"
and all should be fine. If not, remove optimisation altogether. Get it
to work first, then work on polishing it.
